Recently, I had to make some soap that I haven’t had to make in a while. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough of one of the necessary oils: Apricot Kernel Oil. Not only is the oil important to my soap recipe, it’s also important for our skin and hair. Believe it or not, apricot trees are native to China, and Chinese doctors used apricots in various medicines and herbal products, long before other countries knew about the fruit. Look at the positive benefits below.
Apricot Kernel Oil, also known as Apricot Seed Oil, can be applied to your skin. It’s light, and absorbs well into the skin, with minimal greasiness. The oil can protect against UV rays, which makes it a great addition to sunscreen products. The oil contains high levels of Vitamin A and E, which is wonderful for your skin and hair. If you add straight Apricot Oil to your scalp, your hair will shine!
For skin ailments like psoriasis, the oil helps create new skin cells to replace the old, damaged ones from the illness. However, the oil isn’t the best choice for acne, ironically enough. It can clog pores, so use the oil in moderation if you have a bad case of acne.
Although D’Scent Essentials uses the oil externally, there are internal uses for Apricot Kernel Oil. The oil was showcased in a 2014 study in Journal List that showed that the oil relieved colon inflammation and ulcers in rats. The potential for treatments for IBS (Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome) is great when it comes to this oil. And although it hasn’t been proven, there have been alternative medicines that included Apricot Kernel Oil to help fight cancer. The oil helped bring balance back to patients’ immune systems after chemotherapy. However, DSE is NOT advising you use the oil as a treatment for cancer. Do your own research before taking a major step in using the oil as an alternative treatment. Better yet, talk to your doctor about various alternatives that are available.
Whether using the oil externally or internally, Apricot Kernel Oil is a great, all-around carrier oil. Its advantages and benefits outweigh any disadvantages the oil may have. Our Mango Mambo contains the oil, and the soap is wonderful and nourishing for your skin. Try it out; order some at our website (www.dscente.com).
